This visionary music was originally composed and produced for the guided colour visualizations used on Janet Goodrich's Natural Vision Improvement cassettes. As I was extremely pleased with the original music, I rearranged it and released it as an instrumental album.
The music represents a journey through the rainbow colours with each colour relating to parts of the body, mind, spirit, the elements, the planets, and to the chakras (psychic nerve centres of the body).
The musical feel, key, mode, tempo and time signature are expressions of all of these facets of each colour and were not decided upon prior to composing but evolved out of the creative process.
Each colour is represented by two musical sections which are not always clearly defined.
The first section is a journey through the different aspects of the colour. It is a textural, moody and volatile expression of the range of the colour and affects the listener on many levels.
The second section is a more solid musical piece, which expresses the most salient aspect of that colour.
To obtain the optimum from this production I recommend using a good set of headphones,or positioning yourself between the speakers to obtain balanced stereo as the music stimulates left and right hemispheres with varying intensity.Close your eyes, take a deep breath and relax. The music will trnsport you into your visual dreaming and beyond.

1. Red - (physical) Invigorating and strengthening the physical body. It relates to the base chakra, the earth, land, solids, mineral, touch, glory, vitality, congeniality, joy, passion, sexuality, heat, anger, blood, muscles, skin, body, Aries, Scorpio. (Key: C, Scale: C ionian / mixolydian, Time Signature: 4/4)
This piece begins with the didgeridoo (earth). It has an ambient keyboard introduction. The didge resounds, the click sticks beat out a pulse and an electric guitar cuts through to finally bring in into a melodic, rock music theme with drums, bass and rhythm guitar.

2. Orange - (emotional) Bridging the physical and the mental. It relates to the sexual chakra, emotional and sexual energy, passion, vitality, expansion, warmth, pride, manipulation, liquid, taste, Leo. (Key: D, Scale: D natural minor, Time signature: 4/4)
Once again this piece begins very mellow and with deep emotion on a journey through landscapes with wild horses and wolves and wailing guitars to finally come out into Latin conga rhyhtms and passionate guitars.

3. Yellow - (mental) Stimulating conscious mental thought. It relates to the chakra at the solar plexus, conscious mental thought, intelligence, will, wisdom, communication, criticism, judgement, sun, light, Gemini. (Key: E, Scale: E mixolydian / pentatonic, Time signature: 7/4)
This music is light and rhythmic with Peter Haddock playing a dancing flute around the 7/8 rhythms.

4. Green - (psychic) Opening the heart. It relates to the heart chakra, life, healing, growth, plants, forest, serenity, compassion, love, harmony, beauty, attraction, electromagnetic energy, possessiveness, jealousy, Taurus. (Key: F, Scale: F major, Time signature: 4/4)
This jouney begins in the forest, walking along a path. The forest opens up and the sunlight shines onto an amazing vision, your vision. The journey continues in a light, cruizy groove with accoustic guitars soloing over a bed of vocal chanting, piano, fretless bass and percussion.

5. Blue - (dream) Channelling dreams. It relates to the throat chakra, speech, fear, anxiety, sky, space, ocean, religious aspirations, dreams, creativity, serenity, constancy, devotion, coolness, will, melancholy, Aquarius, Libra. (Key: G, Scale: G natural minor, Time Signature: space)
This is dream music, floating, watery, washes of sound textures with beautiful, whispy flutes played by Anthony Branagan.

6. Indigo - (imagination) Solidifying self awareness within the dreamstate. It relates to the third eye chakra, spirituality, inspiration, intuition, understanding, perception, creativity, coolness, vagueness, superiority, Sagittarius. (Key: A, Scale: A ionian / mixolydian, Time signature: 15/8)
A light, rhythmic arpegio dances it's way through many textures building up to a crescendo as the drums and electric guitars weave their way in harmony, whirling from left to right speakers.

7. Violet - (integration) Blending and integrating all the various aspect of oneself, bring the power of all the colours into physical reality. It relates to the crown chakra, psychic awareness, spirituality, clairvoyance, idealism, cold, dreaminess, forgetfulness, Pisces. (Key: B, Scale: B ionian / lydian, Time Signature: 4/4)
A long slow, orchestral journey of majestic splendor on this velvety, magic carpet ride which flies to the heights of melodic rapture with beautiful flutes and climaxing electric guitars.

JUNGLE WALK

Total Time: 56 mins. Available on CD and cassette.
NCMI Award for Recording Production,1991. It was also nominated for Jazz and Instrumental categories.

This album was innitiated by my friend Suheela who suggested "Hey you should make some jungle music " ....My head went flash,flash...."yeh,that's a great idea...yeh!" So into the studio, the creativity oozing out of every pore.....and so the jungle walk began.
That was early 1990. A year later when the basic production was complete I called in Tony Buchanan, who played the most, magical saxes and flutes. Finally Pete Haddock added flutes to "Birds Call" and "Glow Qwela" and it was ready for mixdown.

1. Jungle Walk - is a 15 minute long groove. It begins in the jungle with the birds, monkeys, elephants, roaring lions....the drum rhythms appear and the soprano sax answers the trumpeting elephants...the marimbas and bass set the groove and the jungle walk begins. We journey through a trombone solo, a tremendous tenor sax wailing with the animals and an electric guitar hotting up the groove with some funky rhythms....the steamy heat is finally quenched with the coolest alto flute charming the snakes and birds as we return to the jungle birds and creek.

2. Birds Call - we travel up into the Andes where the flutes and pan flutes, rhythms and calls lift us into the crystal skies of the "alti-plano".

3. Glow Qwela - night falls, the birds dissappear, the cricket chorous chirps, the frogs croak out and the evening throb begins with a "Baiao" rhythm (from NE Brasil) on the percussion. The bass, steel string guitar, and finally the harmonized sax and flute melodies make us feel like we're
hearing Kwela music in the African townships of Johannesburg.

4. In Flew Enza - was composed in 1989 when I had a bad dose of flu. Guitar, bass and drums create tight, chordal and rhythmic changes with the melodies switching from flute to sax.

5. Le Fleu - Stong, samba, funky rhythms with a catchy melodic line that developes and changes and climaxes.A superb flute solo by Tony.

6. Mumbo - Back to Africa for a brassy, rhythmic groove with melodic lines that cross over in layers.

7. Solsito - lift your feet up,close your eyes and appreaciate the exquisite soprano sax by Tony. This begins very smoothly and then moves into a light bossa nova feel to drift back into that spacey place.

8. Heart - a repetitive melody that pulls at the heart strings. The light, sensual samba feel gives me "saudades" (Brazilian for nostalgia) for Brazil, a country and people I love.

9. Latin Adventure - take the final journey with these five guitars back into the jungle. This is travelling music, a 5/4 rhythm sets off on percussion, the piano lays the chords and the groove, and the guitars weave their harmonies, layer upon layer .... we finally hear those junglebirds from somewhere and the constant flow of the creek ... back to our roots...........

Recorded at Kittani Music Studio 1990 to 1991 and released on cassette in Dec. '91
and CD July '92.
